Automated SQL Install with PowerShell DSC

  • In-Person @ Microsoft MTC Chevy Chase, Maryland, United States (map)
  • 18:30 - 21:00 Eastern Daylight Time
  • Language: English

WHAT: Are you sick of clicking through the same old buttons, entering the same information into the SQL Server installation interface or building batch scripts and unattended SQL installs? Wouldn’t be great if you could just declare the final state of your SQL Server’s and magically another process makes it happen in a repeatable and scalable way? If your answer is yes, PowerShell Desired State Configurations (DSC) is for you. In this session we will introduce you to a new approach for automation that can be used to install and configure SQL Server. This includes applying best practices, security, and even Always On Availability groups. We will cover a quick introduction into PowerShell DSC and a demo of how to build and use it for SQL Server installation and configuration. WHO: Frank Garofalo and Daniel Temesgen, SQL Server Premier Filed Engineers at Microsoft
