We will head over to the Capital Grille after the meeting for about an hour of a casual open SQL discussion. The topic is not set, but feel free to bring any questions you have, or topics of interest.

SQL Server Internals Party: Storage, Memory and the Query Life-cycle

Come meet the Internals of SQL Server at this special get-together! In this presentation we will cover the basics of data storage and querying with SQL Server. We will cover how data is stored in pages and extents and how that translates to data reads/writes with the storage system. Additionally, we will explore how different queries are processed by SQL Server and how the query life cycle works in general. Finally we will cover disk storage and memory and tie it all together. This session is intended to be broad and to give a general overview of how a query is processed in SQL Server and how storage and memory play a part in that. Everyone is invited to this introductory level presentation and should be appealing to DBAs, DB & BI Developers and System Administrators. Party hats not included, rated G for Geeks.

About Ayman:
Ayman holds a MSCE Data Platform, MSCA in SQL Server 2012, and a MCITP SQL 2008 DBA certification. He is also an MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer). Ayman loves to teach and share knowledge, and is a huge football (soccer) fan.

Regular Meeting Details

PASSDC meets the second Thursday of each month at the Motley Fool in Alexandria, Virginia.

Meetings begin at 6:30pm, and typically last around two hours.

Note: The building is a secured building and the doors will most likely be locked when you arrive.
We will have someone at the front door to let you in. If you arrive early you will need to wait until 6:30 for us to let you into the building. a phone number you can text for entry between 6:30 pm and 7:30 will be posted on the door.
